Central storage without interference

Not a lot of information is more sensitive than the data processed and stored at hospitals. Helse Midt-Norge, with its 600 servers and 12 000 PCs, maintains exactly the same ruling. As one of the biggest health companies in Norway, Helse Midt-Norge takes very good care of its data – greater care than most others, actually. HEMIT, Helse Midt-Norge IT, makes sure of this by using a central storage solution supplied by Proact.

Proact has supplied HEMIT with all of its central storage systems. These storage systems are based mainly on hardware and software from Hitachi Data Systems. The biggest advantage of the new solution is that it provides 100 % uptime, along with the right performance and capacity. All administration and maintenance of storage data and systems is executed centrally while the system stays up. Even software and hardware upgrades are executed with the systems live, and all without affecting performance or uptime.

"This central storage solution, which Proact installed in January 2005, came with a 100 % uptime guarantee. Three years later, in January 2008 when we renewed the system, it had been working with no problems at all. The promise made by Proact was kept," says Tone Musum, IT group manager at HEMIT.
